Nasa Plans Unrealistic

It's becoming clear that NASA planners have bit off more ambitious goals than they have money to pay for. A new report suggests scaling expectations back.

In response to a request from the White House, NASA set up a panel to look in to the future of U.S. manned spaceflight. This panel has concluded that NASA's vision has out run it's budget.

For a more detailed look at this panel's conclusions, please see this article.

The situation with the International Space Station seems particularly troubling, as NASA plans to decommission the Space Station only a few years after completing it's construction. What???

I want to learn more, but the phrase "government boon doggle" is surfacing here. I've always supported the International Space Station as a realistic and worthwhile project, and apparently wasn't informed enough to understand that NASA planned to discard the Space Station upon completion. An image of my tax dollars circling a toilet bowl is now coming to mind.

In any case, it seems NASA now understands it is over extended and is looking for more realistic mission plans. My guess is they may soon be looking for new leadership as well.
